DAYRIDES

Yellowstone National Park

Our full day rides in Yellowstone National Park start at the trailhead of our choosing at 9:00 a.m. We will help you decide on which trail depending on your ability and terrain desire. We supply a wonderful lunch with your choice of many different beverages. What you will need to bring is your camera, sun protection (hat, glasses, etc.) some riding boots and rain gear. If you do not have any rain gear we always bring a few different options for you to borrow. Your guide will give a short riding orientation. They will explain riding techniques to give you the most comfort, address safety issues and answer any questions you might have. We usually return to the trailhead around 4:00 or 5:00 p.m. Here are some short descriptions of the full day rides we do in Yellowstone National Park.

  • Gardner's Hole- Glen Creek trailhead, 10 miles outside of Mammoth. One-hour transport from Chico. Fishing for small brook trout, great for more inexperienced fisherman. Ride can be anywhere from 1-5 hours depending on how much you want to fish if at all. Highlights; Electric Peak, Elk in September, great photographing anytime.

  • Sepulcher loop- Glen Creek trailhead, 10 miles outside of Mammoth. 4-5 hour loop. Highlights; very scenic, with an elevation of 8,900 ft. Very steep, for more experienced riders.

  • Big Horn Pass- Indian Creek trailhead, 18 miles outside of Mammoth. 5-6 hour ride. Highlights; getting to the Big Horn Pass with an elevation of 9200 ft, potential for many animals in September. Medium size grizzly with blond on hump spotted on numerous rides, Mountain goats viewed up on cliffs near pass, glassed hundreds of elk over pass.

  • Black Canyon-Blacktail trailhead, 20 miles outside of Mammoth. Good fishing. 1-5 hour ride, depending on your fishing wants. Highlights; very scenic narrow canyon, suspension bridge, many elk in September.
