Already looking forward to getting back in the woods for 2012. Get ready for another exciting season in Yellowstone.
Wow 2011 was quite the season. A big thanks to all the people we work with because without you we can not do this business alone. Thankyou to all of our guests of 2011 and in the past for your support as without you we can not do what we love to do for a living! 2011 started slow as fly-fishing in the park didn’t really get going til August, unheard of. Most mountain passes and river crossing were not passible ti august and beyond, unprecedented. But we were able to do all of our trips in July except one which we re-scheduled for august so although stressful now looking back we survived it. Our season started off in the northwest corner of yellowstone along with the pelican valley. We have enough animals to do 2 full trips at the same time and we have wonderful employees to handle it. Our next trips focused in the snake river regions in early august which after the river cleared it was fantastic fishing. Fly-fishing really stayed very good in all regions throughout Sept and into Oct. we then started to focus on riding and wildlife in late aug and early sept and was very pleased to see alot of wildlife in the high country. The Lamar didn’t disappoint again as we picked up some late trips in the northeast corner and finished up with some great weather and fishing with some new guests that we could see would become friendships in the future. One of my favorite days was a drop camp I did in mid oct into Heart Lake for some past friends and followed a BIG bear tract all the way in and finally saw him late evening feeding on a hillside and ended up riding the last couple hours in a full moon with a cool fall night. Priceless!!! we are fortunate enough to have a very good client base growing from past guests and their referals that keeps getting bigger and that is tranlating into earlier commitments for pack trips so if you have any interest in a Yellowstone adventure Call now and we will explain what we can do for you with a variety of different options. this will be my 15th season guiding in Yellowstone and our 10th season as Rockin HK Outfitters so we hope to see you in 2012!
Happy trails
