Back into pebble creek, more bears and much improved fly-fishing from a couple weeks prior.

Just came out of pebble creek again after 2weeks of packtripping else where. First time back after the tragic fatal attack of some campers in the campground. 2 weeks prior we were lucky enough to see and photograph the sow and 3 cubs  which killed one man and mauled 2 others.( see facebook rockinhk for photo) In the same camp and less than 2 miles from where we saw the sow and 3 cubs we saw another sow and 2 cubs, however they we belive were a black bear sow and cubs. we did a day ride up towards the headwaters of pebble creek. We had 5 kids under the age 12 and they were all big time troopers (along with the adults) as we kept getting pounded with thunderstorm after thunderstorm for 2 full days. It was warm but sooggy. We made the best of it dayriding, fishing, and playing games. The weather then cleared up and had 2 wonderful august days. Bugs are down and we found more cutthroat making there way to the upper part of pebble creek. Fishing was much improved from 2 weeks prior. We enjoyed seeing the bears, viewing the mountain goats in the scope, a few resident mule deer , and a cow moose running on the outskirts of camp. It is very strange to see all these other species without seeing an elk. Who would have thought that would ever be the case.  Going back to the bear attacks it is being investigated if a photographer had actually baited the bear with human food to get a good photo. If that is the case , it is unbelievable to me that one of us would be as selfish and moronic as to do that in grizzly country and destroy the lives of at least one family and also took 4 grizzly bears out of our ecosystem. We will wait to see.  Leaving for 5 days in the Pelican Valley and the lamar river. See you next week.Kids enjoying the wildlife on horseback
