Slough Creek, What a Special Place!
Just came out of slough creek last night and had a wonderful trip. Water is clear and cold and fishing well. Fish seem exceptionally healty even more so than normal. We were catching them on several different patterns. Several different caddis patterns,PMD’s, parachute adams, green drakes, beetles, mayflies, small stone flies just to name a few. Great hatches were going on and several different ones at the same time. A special thanks to the Montana land Reliance which put together a group of guys that we consider friends more than clients now after 4 trips together. Water did not really fish till late morning as it took awhile for the water to reach warmer temps. had a mid afternoon lull to try a throw some junk at them then picked up 6-7pm for the evening hatch. On the animal watch we were able to hear the wolves howl every night at between 11-12 pm. I saw a fresh pile of wolf scat right at the gate of our horse pasture witch proves they were close to camp. We had a spotting scope and glassed some Mountain goats up towards bliss pass and one of our wranglers and 1 guest saw a couple of bears milling around camp up by the silver tip ranch. Weather was beautiful, little hot for me but bluebird almost all of the 4 days. Our other trip comming out of the snake river also was a sucsessful trip as they were able to fish the snake river and did well indifferent holes and such. I will post an album on FB for both trips. Heading into the headwaters of pebble creek in the northeast corner for some smaller creek fishin for cuts this comming week so stay tuned.
